We've arrived at the final stop of our Must See Haunts
for 2013 which puts us in Jeffersonville, Indiana at the Industrial Terrorplex
- formerly the Industrial Nightmare - the biggest and baddest venue the state
has to offer.
Legend has it that every night at 8:15 or so, hundreds
of bats infest the chimney of the Terrorplex...for some reason, these nocturnal
predators gravitate towards the building...do they know something we don't????
When I started contemplating my list for this year,
this one had to be on top - it was NO CONTEST!
Four haunts in all - CarnEvil 3D - a black lit
harlequin infested nightmare - Infected
- psycho zombie carnage at it's finest - Dimensions - a place that would give Ted Bundy
the creeps - and the main run, the Industrial Nightmare itself, which blend seamlessly
together into a terrifying experience...
We've
been through it twice, but it was our initial visit in 2009 that really set the
tone for us - heck, Lisa and I went for an encore - along with our first visit to The Devil's Attic
- in 2012 just because it's that good!!
As ever, this is a companion piece to my regular
HAUNTCAST segment - go to: www.hauntcast.net for all the details on how to
subscribe and all the benefits to do so as well. You won't be disappointed!
Next
time around....welll...not too sure - to accommodate everyone's haunting and holiday needs, HAUNTCAST will lay down and rest until January, and, as the season is upon us, we'll be traveling a bit - as ever - but be watching for an extra post of two in the next few months...my regular reviews will resume with HAUNTCAST's return in 2014.
Until then, STAY SCARY!
As I've said before, the Industrial Terrorplex makes a Terrifying Triple Halloween Treat along with The Devil's Attic and the Baxter Avenue Morgue - if you're in the area - and all three are but a stone's throw away from one another - bring some extra cash, friends and victims and take in all three!!!
Also worth of note is The Devils's Attic's Devilish Ducati Giveaway....click the link for details...
....also, please remember the Akron School and Laboratory this season - one of the best in Ohio - as they solider on without their founder...
Chicago's Dream Reapers has been reincarnated into CarnEvil
- now located in Hoffman Estates, Illinois
- check in on CarnEvilChicago.com
I just HAVE to make mention of Universal Studios Horror
Nights in Hollywood, CA is hosting the new Black Sabbath 13 3D haunted
attraction - featuring scenes inspired and sound tracked by the music the Sabbs...
As most folks here know, we lost Jerry G. Bishop this
past September 17th, a man who's was multifaceted career included being the
original Svengoolie of Chicago late night horror television from 1970 to 1973
on Screaming Yellow Theatre...
I'm a little too young to remember the original show -
I was three years old when he hit the airwaves! - but his influence on horror hosts was
incalculable - including that of one Rich Koz, who used to send in gags to Mr.
Bishop, and, a few years later, he helped establish Koz's career first as the
Son of Svengoolie in 1979, and, with much affection, telling Koz in 2005 he was
all grown up now and could just call himself Svengoolie when the show was resurrected
in 2005.
As one of millions of Windy City natives who's lives
this man's talent and humor has touched in one way or another, I'd just like to
say thank you to Mr. Bishop for all the years of laughter and memories -
Halloween in Chicago would not be what is now without him, and will not be the
same with his absence.
Rest in Peace, Jerry - we'll miss ya'.
Jerry in later years...
Speaking of the Rich Koz Svengoolie, check out his new coffin, now featuring on his show on ME-TV and the U!!!!
And, of course, don't forget the return of THE WALKING DEAD October 13th on AMC - AS IF YOU COULD!!!!!
Until next time...
HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!!
