Haunted caves never even occurred to me
while I lived in Chicago, yet there
are tons of books on cavern dwelling ghosts and goblins.
(I highly recommend "Scary Stories
from Mammoth Cave" by
Coleen Olson, Published by Cave Books for a bit of a glimpse!)
2013 marks the Cave's 36th season, and
their audience has been growing by leaps and bounds over the last few years -
owner Mark Schaefer has taken the place from a charity haunt under the guidance
of the local Jaycee's branch and the Mounted Patrol of the Masons to the #8
spot on Hauntworld's "Scariest Real Haunted Houses in America", while
Oho Valley Haunts has rated them Haunt of the Year in 2010 and 2011....
They're also listed in the Guinness Book
of World Records as the "World's Longest Haunt" at over 3500 feet -
and that doesn't include a few surprises here and there that may cause you to
loose your way...overall, look to spend at least upwards of 45 minutes to an
hour and a half going through....
One of the attractions biggest strength's
is it's cast - over 100 actors at times - 116 last count I was aware of - and
some of them have been haunting the halls for over ten years - and all of them *highly* committed to their
jobs...these folks know a thing or two about scaring people...

and Bloodview, one of the longest running charity haunts in the country, and for
